Re: Vertical Weatherstrip for Stanley Double Entry Door

Handy Person from Westchester, NY

I have a Stanley double front door that is probably over 30 years old. The weatherstrip on the door that does not normally open is old and cracked. I can't remove the weatherstrip because I am still not sure how it is attached. I am sending 3 photos to help you identify the weatherstrip.

Thank you,

David

Hi there David.

Thanks for reaching out to us. I'm afraid we can't ID what you may have here. We aren't sure how this installs either from these photos. Usually weatherstripping uses a T-slot or a kerf that would either slide out at the end of the channel or just pull out, if it's a kerf. Since the door is old and not used much, it may be really stuck in there so you'll have to have a lot of patience to try and remove an undamaged sample as best as you can.

Once it's removed, we'll need to see a clear photo of the end profile. I can't promise we'll have a suitable replacement but that should allow us to confirm.
