Rear Porch Door Handle Set

Home Owner from Delaware

My rear porch has a left hand in swing storm door (facing door from outside of porch, hinge is on the left). The 40-028 appears to be a close match the the existing handle (see photo), but has a key cylinder which I do not need. However, there is an existing hole through the door for the key cylinder (see photo). From the diagram here, it appears that in a left hand swing, the 40-028 would have the faceplate cover a key cylinder hole at the bottom, whereas mine is at the top.

Am I correct that if the 40-028 was used in my application, the handle would align with the existing keeper and function properly, but the faceplate would not cover the existing key cylinder hole? If so, do you have a suggestion to resolve this issue? Thank you

Thanks for reaching out to us. The 40-028 can actually work for left and right hand side doors interchangeably, so don't worry about that.

As for covering the key cylinder hole, I can't really tell you for sure if it will since I'm not sure what kind of space you're working with here. Figure that the 40-028 has a 3-1/2" long plate, so as long as the key cylinder hole falls within that span then it will be covered.
