Hi, my mortise 2 point lock is broken and I want to replace it. My problem is getting the mortise lock out. Do I have to remove the entire door off the track? I tried to pry it out with a flat head screw driver but it is slightly larger than the hole. I see from one viewer you do not have the 10” mortise lock 2 point but have an 11”. I think I can use this but I am unable to remove the broken lock. Please help. thank you

I'm not sure what the problem may be. After you remove the handle set and unscrew the mortise lock from the door, it should come out fairly easily. They are made to fit tightly in the hole, but as long as nothing is obstructing it from being removed it should come out.
Keep in mind I only give this advice with common mortise lock styles in mind. I don't know exactly what type you have, so there could be a chance you have a special kind of lock I'm not familiar with.

Please take a look at the attached photo. Hopefully looking at the mortise lock will provide you with a better understanding on why I can not remove it. Does this help you at all?

Looks like the cut out in the door could be a little on the tight side. I don't think there is another way to remove your existing latch without going through the cut out. You will need to bring the hooks out and using a set of vise grips or pliers take hold of that hook and try pulling the latch out.
