Removal and replacement of bathroom stall latch

Hello,
I am having trouble trying to install subject part. The part # is 10-557. I have tried using a C clamp to press the parts together,but they do not snap in place. I also need to know how to remove latches that do not work properly without damaging the door surface. Where can I find instructions for removal and installation of this part.
