Remove Old Disintegrated Patriot Pivot Bar

Home Owner from Virginia
How do you remove the old disintegrated pivot bar on a patriot vinyl window? Will the one on you site work for my patriot window?

Without seeing the pivot bar from your Patriot window, I would start by trying to remove the old corroded pivot bar by first trying to soaking it with WD 40 or similar cleaning agent. Let it set a few hours and see if that works. If not try some heat from a hair blower, but be careful not to heat it up too much to cause the glass to break or disfigure the vinyl. Let us know how it works out.

I will try the WD40 first and see if that will work. The set screw is out, but the pivot bar will not budge and it is broke off even with the window frame. If WD40 will not work I will try the hairdryer.

Thanks

I have pictures of the old pivot bar, but I don't see anything on the web site that looks the same. Oh, by the way the WD40 worked to remove old unit. However, it just came out in pieces. I removed the other side for you to see the shape and size.
Please see pictures enclosed and let me know what I should order for my older 2004 M&W Patriot vinyl window.

Thanks

I believe you can use our 26-360 in place of your broken pivot bar in your old Patriot window. I would just carefully go over the screw hole placements to be 100% sure.

The bend in the pivot bar isn't critical, but you will need to replace the pivot bars on both sides of the sash regardless of damage. They need to be symmetrical.

My screw appears to be 1 15/16" and the one on the proposed appears to be 2", so will I need to use my drill press and re-drill a new hole?

Good question. I don't think so. We have known other customers with Patriot windows use the 26-350 pivot bar with out drilling. Get back to us and let us know if you have any further questions.
