Remove shoe in aluminum window

Question

I have channel balances in my aluminum window. The shoe is destroyed. How do I get it out to identify it? And even more important how do I get the new one in?

If there is no opening for the pivot shoe to slide out of the window, we recommend reviewing the cutout method shown below. For an aluminum window, you would need to use a pair of heavy duty snips to make the cut.

Once the shoe is removed, we will need to know the width and thickness to compare to our selection. Did you need a new channel balance as well? The hook appears to be damaged.
