Removing the window sash with the S400 sash support system

A quick learner from Gulf Shores, Alabama says:
I have a house on the coast, built in 1995 that has Mayfair aluminum windows in it. The salt air has rusted some of the balances and some of the windows will not stay up. I have removed a balance and it looks just like the 3/8 Series 400 Spiral Balance on your website. Even after reading the directions on your site, I can't figure out how to remove the half of the window that raises up and down so I can identify the other hardware needed, ie what the balance will attach to inside the window. Thanks, Bruce

I've noticed this in some of the aluminum non-tilt windows; hopefully yours are okay.

First, detach the spiral from the sash clip, if you can. Then, unscrew the screw holding the top of the balance and remove from the sash track. Do the same on the other side. Now, the sash should be loose enough to remove.
