Repair old windows

Home Owner from 11946
Window is very difficult to open/close. Would like to replace this liner and/or springs with something newer. Worried i will damage the liner if i try to remove so i don't have part number or manufacturer. Can you tell me what would be a good replacement for this?

Hello,

I can't be sure but you may have jamb liners that use naked springs to support the sash, which is common in older wood windows like yours. If so, unfortunately, none of our balances will work as replacements but a local millwork may be able to supply new jamb liners for your repair.

If not, we would need to see photos of the original balance assembly fully removed from the window to compare to our inventory. Thank you.
