Replace balance for Jel Wend double pane windows

Quick Learner from Mcallen texas
I have 4 window which need new balances (latches too, but that seems a more straightforward issue). There are 2 current balances are marked 38 4 then at right angel. 3 S.I. Then back 90 degrees RL. The balance is 38" long. It is 1/2 wide.

The other 2 are marked exactly same way, but are 26" long and marked 26. They are also 1/2" wide.

Can you help me id the correct replacements? Thanks

I'm not sure what you have, unfortunately. We have dozens of different balances with that stamp. It's not a product code or anything, it just indicates the strength of the spring.

In order to figure out what Series this is, I need you to remove an undamaged version of this balance from the window and show me clear pictures of the top and bottom nylon fittings. I will also need to know the dimensions of these fittings.

Thank you for responding. Here are some photos

the channel is 1/2 wide (metal channel "back") the end with the pulley/line is 1" from front flanges to the rear of the bulge. The bottom piece with flanges, is 15/16" from tip to tip of flanges. Bottom plastic clip with flanges, is 1.25" from bottom point to highest point above flanges. Top piece with pulley is 1 3/8" from top of plastic to lowest part of plastic, top piece with pulley, is 7/8" wide from tip of flange to tip of flange.

Thank you. What you have here is an extended travel type balance, named for the extra long length of the cord. We can supply these, but they're not stock products so it has to be as a custom order.

Before we can go further, I will need information from you. To start with, I would like you to confirm the length of the metal channel for each balance. Based on the given stamps, the lengths should be 38-5/8" and 26-5/8", respectively.

You also mentioned that the stamp of the second balance is "26," but there should be a third number. Can you check again and tell me what the third digit might be? If there is no other digit then I will need you to instead weigh your sash on a scale and tell me exactly what you get, down to the ounce.

Finally, please tell me how many of each size you will require.

Yes longer one has metal channel that is 38 5/8" long. It is stamped 38. 4 RL. There is another marking. At right angles to the 38. 4 marking which same 3 SI. If that means anything. I need 2 of these.

The shorter one has metal channel that is 26 5/8" long. It is stamped 26. 4 RK. It too has another marking at right angle to others 3 S.I. I also need 2 of these. I am including photos of the markings.

Do these numbers provide the needed info?

Thank you for your help, look forward to the quote.

Perfect, thank you! Those stamps are exactly what I needed to see. Please give me a little time to verify their availability and I'll get back to you ASAP! I already know that we have the 26-4 in stock, I just have to check on that 38-4.

Okay, we're good to go. I'll email you a purchase link and price quote right now that will let you add 2 of each to your cart. You may then checkout as normal. I did also confirm that the 38-4 is unfortunately not in stock. That size will unfortunately have a lead time of 5-6 business weeks, since we have to have it made from scratch. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Just one last note: the metal clip at the end of the cord is going to be slightly different on our balances compared to what you have now. It will still work exactly the same way and you won't notice a difference; yours is just an outdated version. I only bring it up so that you aren't surprised when you open the box.

Thanks for your consideration and please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
