The handles are fine but the lock mechanism is broken and the flip lever does not seem to go in very far . It does not seem to be broken.

Take a look and compare the dimensions of our 82-218 mortise lock and 82-030 handle set with 3-15/16" mounting holes to your original hardware. Thanks for posting!
