Replacement 22" Channel Balance

A handy person from California says:

I will be replacing a 22" length x 1/2" width Channel Balance for my window that has a stamp marked "21 3 CN Caldwell". Can you let me know which model I should buy as a replacement?

Thanks,

John

Hey John. It seems you're going to need either an S380-22 or S385-22, with a stamp option of 2130. The only difference between these two balance Series is the bottom nylon shoe depth. The picture below illustrates the difference. Compare with your old hardware to see what matches best.

A home owner from Roseburg, Oregon says:
It looks like I need a S385-22 channel balance based on your pictures and diagrams. My question would be what option should I use based on the weight of the window? The length of the metal bar is 22 inches.

The balance from your original post would use a 2130 option, as Bob mentioned, based on the "21 3" stamp.

I'm assuming this balance with a "21 4" stamp is from another window and would use a 2140 strength option.

You can also find a chart under the S385-22 product description that tells you the spring strength option you need based on the weight of the window sash. Thank you!
