Replacement Balances

Quick Learner from Reddick, FL
Greetings,
Our home was originally built in 2005 (I am not the original owner) and two of the window channel balances are in need of replacement.  I am fairly sure that CWS - Custom Window Solutions is the manufacturer of our windows since the home was built locally near Ocala, FL (where CWS is located) and when I see the Keystone Certification sticker, it shows a "CWS" ID number (CWS-K-002).  They are both 3500 SH aluminum frame, but different sizes.

The two ballasts have the following markings stamped into them:
The smaller one is 16 9 BSI
The larger one is 29 9 PN with a vertical BSI

I am sending photos of them removed, but I do not have any installed.

Please let me know if you sell replacements for these and the costs.

Thanks,Craig Prusansky

Hello, thanks for posting! It looks like you could have either our Series 380 or Series 385. The difference between the Series 380 and the Series 385 lies in the depth of the shoe. Take a look at the picture below for more detail. Once you have determined this dimension you should be able to select the appropriate balance.

It looks like the 15-004. See photo.

Thanks.

I agree with you, I think the Series 385 looks right. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you, but I am not sure of the weight options. Both are stamped with a "9" ("16 9" and "23 9").

Thanks,

Hi Craig. I'm sorry I didn't notice that earlier. Since your stamps don't match any of our options, I recommend you weigh your window sash. From there we should be able to deduce the correct spring strength.

I found a stamp reference chart that has the stamps on it and corresponds to the approximate weight. The sashes are quite heavy and awkward to remove because of the window location, and I would rather not remove them twice.

According to the chart:
16-9 = 22 to 26 lbs
29-9 = 33 to 36 lbs

I am going with that because they feel about that weight. Thank you for your help and I'll be placing the order soon.
