Replacement Channel Balance

A home owner from Land O Lakes, Fl says:

SWISCO

I need replacements for two balances that failed in an aluminum frame window, and request assistance in identifying the appropriate replacement units. The metal channels are 29 inches long, and just slightly wider than 1/2 inch.

A variety of photos are attached to aid in identifying the correct parts.

I will include additional pictures in a following email.

I appreciate any assistance you can provide in identifying appropriate replacements.

Hello. Thank you for writing in. Before I recommend anything, could you tell me the depth of that bottom shoe? Take a look at the picture below for reference. I am looking for that 7/8" dimension.

Its a little difficult for me to determine which is the "bottom shoe" since both balances have fallen out of the window and are broken. So, I have sent photos of both ends. I think the one you are addressing is the one on the right, the 15/16 measurement, but it doesn't look much like that in your sample photo.

Looking forward to what you recommend

Many Thanks

Hey, Phillip. I agree, the piece on the right looks just like the shoe Julia showed you, with the exception that your depth is 15/16" instead of 7/8".

The problem is that we don't have a shoe with a 15/16" depth. That leads us to two possibilities:

Possibility one: you could have the Series 380 channel balance. This has a 19-005 top fitting and 15-005 bottom fitting, the 15-005 being 1" deep. Your bottom fitting may only measure 15/16" because it wore down from use and friction. Happens all the time. The Series 380 is a stock balance and can be purchased from our site at your convenience.

Possibility two: you simply mis-measured, and the depth of the shoe is indeed 7/8". That means you have a 19-005 top and 15-029 bottom fitting, which is not a stock Series. This would have to be custom made in our warehouse before we ship it out to you. That's a bit of a to-do, so we'll need to get the ball rolling on that if it's what you have.

Please let me know which possibility you think it is.
