Harvey Sliding Door Replacement Handle

Hello,

I have an older model Harvey sliding patio door which needs a new handle. My door measures 2" in thickness, most handles I see are up to only 1 3/4". Are there replacement handles for the 2" thick doors?

Hi,

You'll note the missing inside locking latch and recently broken outside handle. Don't need an exterior lock.

Perfect, thank you Mike. We have a bunch of handles similar to yours, but if your door is 2" thick then I think your best option is our 82-086. It's not the same exact style but it should still work the same way. Just note that the thumb lever for the 82-086 is offset down and cannot be adjusted. If your thumb lever is centered, it's important to let me know. The 82-086 would not work in that circumstance.

One other thing. The kind of damage your old handle set experienced is usually due to a door not rolling properly. This kind of door should open at a touch. If you find yourself having to yank on the handle to open it, then you should check the condition of your track and rollers to ensure everything is functioning properly. Check for dents and damage or any dirt/debris that could be clogging up the works.

If you don't address this issue, then any new handle you buy will break the same way in a few years.

Hi Tom,

Thanks so much for the help. I'll have to check out the offset question as it relates to my door. I know the outside lock is positioned lower on the handle and doesn't seem centered. That was the picture of the broken handle.

Are there any models which don't have the exterior/keyed lock?

Sure! There are tons, but not all of them will work as well for a 2" door. You can see our 82-035, which is pretty much the same as what you have now. We also have the 82-069, 82-079, and others. In each case, I'd recommend trying them out to see if they work as-is. If the door ends up being too thick, you could reuse your old screws and thumb lever.
