Replacement Latch

Sounds like you need a new mortise. You might have had our 82-218, but I don't know how you're going to install it on your door as damaged as it is. You could maybe go for the 82-227, which has a wider faceplate and could maybe reach past that damage, but it will only get worse in time. I hate to say it, but you may need a new door.
