Replacement Pella Sash Lift

Home Owner from Montana
In 2007, I replaced the old windows in my house with pella replacements. Recently, as I was painting those windows and had one tilted in, the cord on the sash lift broke. The Pella dealer who has serviced these windows (and who I bought them from) says that they have to replace the sash lift, that they can't re-string them, and that they no longer stock that version. Needless to say, I hope you can help me. The pella number is on the photo attached. The windows are cottage-style double hung with insulated glass. The sash size is 38-1/2"wide x 43" high. I think the Pella service staff will replace the sash lift (which is concealed behind their removeable jamb liner) if I can locate a replacement lift.

Hello,

We'd be happy to look into this for you but we can't be sure of what you need with the balance still installed. To get started, we would need to see an intact balance fully removed from the window. We'll also need to confirm how it installs in the window jamb. Thank you.

Here are the photos of the sash lift I need to replace, both prior to removal, and following complete removal, adjacent to a tape measure on our kitchen countertop. The there will be another correspondence with additional photos. A description of the photos as follows:
3284.jpg: Sash lift attached in place at the lower end of the frame. this is the only
attachment. At the top, the sash lift simply slides behind a cover plate.
3285.jpg: The top of the sash lift laying horizontally on the countertop. Note number stamped
on in the metal.
3286.jpg: Bottom of the sash lift laying horizontally on the countertop. Note length. Also note
bent hole where a pin used to be.
3287.jpg: Top of sash lift, showing pully mechanism.
3288.jpg: Pully mechanism at the top of the spring.

IMG.3294: This is the bottom of the sash lift again. Note hole, second up from the bottom that's been distorted by the pin pulling out that held the bottom end of the spring.

Swisco--This completes the information I have to send you on this sash lift. Please let me know as soon as possible if it is within your capabilities to replicate. Also, let me know how long it will take, and approximate cost. If you need further information, just ask!

Sincerely,

Jeff

Thanks for getting back to us. Unfortunately, we do not carry a suitable replacement for the balance assembly shown in your photos. In this case, your best bet would be to reach out to Pella directly. I'm sorry that we won't be able to assist with this repair but please let us know if you have any other hardware questions.
