Replacement channel balances

Hello,

I need help figuring out which number of channel balances I need. They are 24" long and 1/2" wide. The markings on them are 2340, 2305, and 2230. I just don't know which of the many choices available I should select.

Hello and thanks for contacting SWISCO. I think we can help you identify the balances you need, but I will need a little more information. Could you take pictures of each balance with a different stamp, including any attachments they have at their ends? Also, could you confirm the length of the channel marked 2230? Remember not to include the attachments in this measurement. This information will help us identify the different kinds of balances you might need. Thanks.

I have attached photos of the endpoints of the 2230. The channel is 22" long.

There are also 4 photos showing the 2340.

I can't get the 2305 out. Do you have any videos on removing these?

Thanks for getting back to us. So, I believe the balance you're showing in three of these photos is our Series 380 channel balance. If the stamp is 2230, then it should be 23" long, not 22". It's possible whoever installed these cut a 23" balance down and then installed that. It happens sometimes.

Either way, if you're positive that the metal channel is 22" long, then you'll need to weigh your sash on a scale to confirm the proper stamp option is for this length.

As for the 2305, that will probably have to be custom made. Just looking at the top attachment, it's an entirely different style compared to our Series 380. I'll need a clear picture of the bottom attachment, stamp, and the metal hook at the end of the cord. As for how to remove it, see the video below.

I was finally able to remove the 2230. Photos of the endpoints and the stamp are attached. The channel is 22.75" long, and the window sash weighs 17.5 lbs.
Do you have a recommendation for a replacement? I need to replace both of the balances on this window.

Ah, I see. This is a special kind of balance that will need to be a custom order. I'm just a little confused. I thought these were the 2305, not the 2230. Is the 2305 a match for our Series 380?

Either way, we know enough about this special 2230 balance to get started on the custom order. Can you just tell me how many you were looking for? Once I know that, I'll email you an order link and price quote for that quantity.

Hello,

So I have actually figured out that the window from which I pulled the unusual channel balance had the wrong balance installed. I think someone tried to repair it, and put in the wrong thing. When I compared it to my other windows, it was exactly like them, and I purchased the 380 series for it.
