Replacement corners for top of storm window

Quick Learner from Greenville, NC

I was working with Matthew G. to see if you have replacement corners for this storm window, which is at least 40 years old. The corners are plastic or nylon. He said I would need to take photos of the complete part after the window is disassembled. Does this appear to be the type of window that can be opened with a wooden block and mallet, or do the dimples indicate a more complicated procedure? Thanks!

It looks like your corner might be pinned in place. these often need to be drilled out, as per the video below. This can be quite the hassle, so I understand if you may not want to.

The bad news is that the storm window industry is basically dead. There are good odds you're not going to find this corner anywhere, especially being as old as it is. You can't even find more modern storm window components anymore.

I'm happy to look into this if you're willing to drill the frame apart and show us the corner by itself, but given the amount of work necessary to remove it, as well as the high likelihood that the part in question doesn't exist anymore, you may reasonably garner that it's not worth the effort. I wouldn't blame you, either.

It's ultimately up to you, but my personal advice would be to see if you can find a shop near you who repairs storm frames. They're not all that common anymore for the above stated reasons, but they may be a better resource for you at this stage.
