Replacement of channel balance

A home owner from Chandler, Az says:

All of a sudden I have had channel balancers on 4 windows fail (2 are the same size) at the same time. I have attached pictures of the numbers on the channel as well as a picture of one of the full balancers which I took out. I don't know the original manufacturer but maybe these will be familiar to you. The windows are 19 years old just in case that matters.

- 2650 FV (27"). This is the one I got out so I was able to measure the metal channel.

- 26 4 BSI OH

- 32 4 FW CMC 11

Can you tell me which equivalent replacements you have and the approximate cost.

To be transparent, I did call a window repair company and they are looking at $149 a window to replace, I did watch your YouTube video on replacing these balancers and that seems high but maybe not.

Hello,

We'd be happy to look into this for you but we would like to see a clear photo of the clip at the end of the balance pulley cord to confirm the correct replacement. Thank you.

Thanks for your quick reply. I have included a couple pictures of each end of the balancer numbered 2650 as it is the one I have removed. Is it safe to assume as all the windows are from the same manufacturer that all will have similar ends?

Thanks for getting back to us. With this combination of attachments, you could have either an S380 or S385 channel balance. You’ll need to measure as shown below. The Series 380 has a 1" bottom attachment, and the Series 385 has a 1-3/32" attachment.

You'll use your balance stamps to choose the corresponding spring strength options for your replacement balances. Thank you and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
