Replacement pivot bars and coil balance

A handy person from Massillon, Ohio says:

I'm looking for replacement pivot bars and coil spring for a house built in 1977. While there doesn't seem to be an exact replacement; I have narrowed it down to 26-021, 26-360, or the 26-444. The pivot bar is 2 1/2 by 5/16 by 3/16 inches. There are two screws but only one goes through the bar at 1 3/8 inches. See attached photos. If this helps, the shoe has patent number 5,704,165.

For the coil spring, it is 1/2 inch wide and appears to have the number 9 stamped on it. See attached photo. The design should be the series 152.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Looking at your photo, I think the 26-444 is our best bet. Only one screw hole needs to match, which appears to be the case. This part would be my recommendation.

As for the spring, it's tough to say based on just the spring alone. In order to confirm that the Series 152 can work, can you show me the shoe to which it attaches?

A handy person from Massillon, Ohio says:
Thanks for your reply. I've attached the shoe and spring coil parts.

One other question is the orientation of the pivot bar. The original has 2 nubs on the end; while the replacement only has 1. When setting the window in the shoe, should the nub face up, down, or it doesn't matter?

Thanks for getting back to us. I don't think the position of the nubs will matter, but if one way causes problems then you can always flip it around. It shouldn't come to that, though. I can say that only having one nub is fine. It should be perfectly stable in the pivot shoe.

Speaking of, your shoe is a somewhat older design that isn't made anymore. That said, the Series 152 should work as a replacement, as you suspected. As long as your original is 1/2" thick then I don't foresee any complications.
