The metal piece on top of my window pivot lock shoe that accepts the spiral balance spring has broken and I'm looking for replacement shoe or parts. The pivot shoe in question looks very similar to the PIVOT LOCK SHOE, BROWN BRAKE PAD (Product Code: 15-178) and the measurements are similar except that the overall length is 2 1/2" long vs 2 1/8" long. I was curious if you might be aware of another pivot lock shoe to suggest that is 2 1/2" long to fit my Thermotite windows. I'm also curious if the metal piece that accepts the spiral balance spring is replaceable? If not, would you recommend that I try replacing the entire pivot lock shoe?

Hi John. The overall height of the pivot shoe doesn't really matter. The most critical dimensions are the width and thickness. You will have to replace the entire pivot shoe. Be sure to remove it from the window jamb to confirm the width and thickness match the 15-178. If you need help with removal and replacement see the video below.
