Replacement sash balance for g 10 31 373

A quick learner from Hudson Valley says:
Hi,

I see from other answered questions that a replacement for a g 10 31 373 is a 24-1033.

However, I am confused because the original has holes in the center for mounting and for mounting the header rail.

Should I drill a hole through the 24-1033 (missing the spools and strings obviously) for the header mounting screw? Just omit the screw on each side?

It doesn't seem like a very direct replacement to me.

Thanks,

JF

Hello! You absolutely don't want to drill any holes in the balance itself. The 24-1033 is only designed to be installed using the tab on the end. It sounds like you have an older kind of Andersen window that doesn't have space for the tab, so you will have to dremel the space out. That's what we usually do.

If that's not a project you're comfortable with, I recommend contacting a local professional to do it for you.
