Replacement window balance

Home Owner from Manchester, MD

Hello,

I am looking to replace a few window springs in my house as some of the plastic attachment points have deteriorated with age and have caused the springs to fail. The springs are for a single hung window and I have attached pictures to help aid in determining what springs may be a suitable replacement. I believe they are crossbow type balances.

The springs dimensions are 14.25 inches long and 9/16 inches across.

The interior tube is 27.25 inches long and 1/4 inches across.

The white cord is 35 inches long and the metal tab connects to the hinge point on the bottom of the window assembly.

Thank you for your time helping me sort this problem out and I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me anytime at the email address or phone number provided below.

Thanks again.

Thanks for posting, Bob. This is a Block & Tackle Rod style balance that has been discontinued and no longer available; but you can replace it with one of our Series 770 Channel Balances. First, you will want to double check the overall length of your old rod balance--if it is 27-1/4", you can round down to 27", but confirm this to be safe. Once you know what length to select, you will also need to choose a stamp option. To know what stamp option to select, weigh your window sash. That precise weight can then be matched to one of the weight ranges listed with each stamp option on the product page. Let us know if you have any questions.
