Replacement window coil balances

A home owner from Oshkosh, Wisconsin says:
Good morning.

Attached are photos of coil balances that broke from two different windows. There are no visible stamps, but they do look like the Series 171 coil. I also included pictures of stickers on the windows. I hope that allows you to advise me what type i actually need to order, along with any other replacement parts.

I contacted Simonton but have received no response to my inquiries. My installer stopped working with them due to lack of communication and supply chain issues.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hello,

If you have Certainteed windows, we offer the 15-192 pivot shoe, which uses the S170 and S171 coil springs, along with the parts listed under the related items section of the 15-192 product page. Please note that some customers have reported that they needed to shave the front of the shoe down to install it in their window jamb.

We also offer a conversion video shown below that works for both Certainteed and Simonton windows that use this type of assembly. Take a look and review the full process below and see which option you'd prefer for your repair.

A home owner from Oshkosh, Wisconsin says:
One last question: which stamps do I order for the S170 and the S171 ? I see there are 9 different stamps for the Series 170 coils and 3 different weight bearing coils for the Series 171 . Can you tell from the stickers on the two windows I sent?

Unfortunately, the manufacturer stickers do not indicate the tension of your coil springs. There would generally be numbers stamped on the base of the original coils that you would use to choose the corresponding strength options. If not, you would need to weigh your window sash and divide the weight by the number of coils used on both sides to choose the corresponding strength options.
