Replacements

A home owner from Inlet Beach Fl says:
Hi,

We cannot seem to identify the manufacturer for this sliding door handle. The lever broke years ago and I've not been able to replace it. Now, the keys for both handles I have aren't turning. So, I think I need to replace the handle and lock, but was hoping to not have to replace the mechanism as well. Any thoughts on what might work here?

Hello! If all you need is the thumb lever, then see our 82-107. I think this may be just what you're looking for.

A home owner from Inlet Beach Fl says:
Thanks! I thought I needed only the lever, but when I went to use the key, neither lock is turning (salt air environment may have corroded the locks). So I suppose I need to replace all of it. Can I do that without replacing the actual lock in the door?

If you need a new key cylinder, you could use our 82-310. If you also need the mortise, then I'll need a photo of it in order to ID a match. These parts are compatible with several different types of mortise.

A home owner from Inlet Beach Fl says:
Hi!

So I received the key locks and I'm attempting to replace them. But as you can see in the photo, the leg on the new lock is taller and this results in the key lock not sitting all the way into the casing that holds it to the door, in addition to not being able to secure it into the casing.

Any idea how I should handle this situation?

See if you can take a file into the existing key cylinder housing to raise up the opening. You might also be able to file the top of the 82-310 a little with out interfering with the lock pins inside, but not sure how much you can file it down. Don't get too nuts.

If you aren't sure about all that, then your next best option is to return the 82-310 (without altering it) and buying a new 82-086 handle set, which has everything.
