Replacements

Hello,

Within the last couple of years I ordered two (replacement) Truth casement hinges from your company (Part #30744B--sorry, couldn't tell if the last figure on the part # is "8" or "B"), both left opening along with crank handles and operator covers. I am in need of more replacements, as the cranks keep breaking and I can't open the window. I have included two pictures of the hinges. I would like some guidance as to being sure I have the same hinges as I ordered last time, only this time I need right opening hinges. I am also thinking that I should order extra hinges just because the older ones are wearing out. Thank you for your help.

Hi Linda,

I'm sorry to say that I was not able to locate any orders under the email dress used to submit the discussion. Although, I can identify the parts you have here without it.

If the cranks are continuing to break you may either need to replace the window hinge or use less force when closing the window. Forcing the handle to turn pass a certain point can wear out the gears in the center of the operator, causing them to become stripped.

The window operator you have pictured here is the 39-032 EntryGard Dual Arm Operator; the opposite handed version is the 39-031. The handle is similar in style to our 39-114L non-folding crank handle and the cover on the operator appears to be the 39-323 Truth Hardware Contour Cover.It also uses the 39-517 Clip-Stud Bracket (the opposite version is the 39-516) and the 39-505 EntryGard Track.

To confirm that this style operator is the one you need, be sure to carefully compare the dimensions. If you are looking to purchase the one opposite of the one in the photo, you'll need the 39-031.

The hinge is a completely separate component from the operator. If you are looking to replace it, you may be able to use the 36-048 2-Bar Hinge Set. Keep in mind, this may not be an exact match for your existing hinges, so you may need to drill new installation holes to install it. This hinge can be used for both the left and right side of the window, on the bottom and top.

Take a look over the dimensions to confirm that this is the right fit. You'll especially want to confirm the measurement for part of the hinge that installs to the window sill. If it is not 10", I'll need to know the exact length.
