Replacing Spiral Balance but current held in with screw?

Quick Learner from Illinois

So needing to replace the spiral balance in my windows, going to order 3/8 35" long with yellow cap.

THe current spiral balance's are held in to the windows with just a screw thru the opening... windows are simple builder grade, really need to just replace the windows, but trying to keep them in for a few more years....

If the spiral balance just has a screw in the top holding it in the window, is that ok? or should I be looking to order something with a little more holding power to it? My last house the spiral balance went in to a nice bracket that held it in... this house is just a screw? So Im a little confused, and looking for whats best!

Again this is just the top of the balance that is screwed in to the window frame. The bottom of the balance clips in to a sliding plate, that part I got.... Thanks!

I think a screw should be okay. I actually can't think of any spiral balances that are held in with anything more. The bracket you describe might have just been a sash stop. It may have still just been a screw holding your balance to the window.
