Replacing awning window crank operators and torque shaft bearing

Quick Learner from Ohio

Hello,

I am looking to replace two broken awning window crank operators and one broken torque shaft bearing. I have attached photos of the (broken) cranks uninstalled as well as the working installed cranks. The only measurement not shown in the pictures is the length from top holes to bottom holes, which is 5 1/8".

There is also a photo of the torque shaft bearing installed only, as it is more difficult to remove. However, I am happy to do so if the additional measurements are necessary.

I have not been able to locate any names, numbers, or markings on the existing hardware. The home was built in the mid-70s, but these windows are located in a sunroom that was added at an unknown later date.

Please let me know if I can provide any further information, and thank you very much for your help.

Best,

Melanie

Hi Melanie, thank you for posting,

The closest I was able to match is the 39-280 operator, but the distance between the top and bottom is 5-3/16". Please double check the diagram below to see what you think!

For the bearing, from it being obstructed, the best I think we can provide is the 36-018G style. Please review below.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you so much! Yes, I think the 39-280 model will work. I've attached an additional picture showing the measurement, which might be closer to 5 3/16" than I originally thought. The 36-018G also looks right to me. Before ordering, I will try to remove the bearing to verify.

To install the new awning window crank operator, it looks like I will need some washers as pointed to in the attached picture. I found the 5/16" E-Ring 21-161 elsewhere on the site. Is that the correct washer?

Yes, if you are not able to reuse the original E-ring, the 21-161 should be a good replacement for the operator. Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
