Replacing old awning operator, how do I remove?

I need to replace a awning operator with the measurements of appox, 16" from the window attachment crack out to the inner connection. My best guess of the arms at full close is just over 21". How does one remove the old operator. Is there a special tool or trick to do this?  Thank you

Good afternoon! Thanks for contacting us. You will have to remove the wooden trim that's covering your operator, first. I recommend gently prying it up with something like our 75-081.
