Request for part / Glazing
This is a window part that covers the side Spring mechanisms on a single-hung vinyl window on a house built in 2000 in Carmel, Indiana.
I would say this "snap in glazing", if it is the correct terminology. It is located on the right and left sides directly over the linear spring hardware
Of the upper window on a normal single hung window construction. The bottom window, the sash, I believe it is called, moves up and down, and the spring is actually located to the right and left sides of the upper window. This 30" long thin piece of plastic covers the entire spring from the top of the top window down to the top of the bottom window. It has a curved shape when installed that allows the triangular window tilt latch to slide up and down.
Hello,
Unfortunately, we do not carry balance covers like the one shown in your photos but a local hardware store may be able to provide them.
I'm sorry that we won't be able to assist with this repair but please let us know if you have any other hardware questions. Thanks for posting.
I don't believe local hardware stores will care anything as specialized as this. I depend on Swisco.com for all my aftermarket window and door needs.
While you may not have a perfect replacement, what do you have that could do the job (form, fit, function)? The part just nestles in there to cover the balances (I think I mistakenly called them linear springs). About 1.25 inches across and slightly bow-shaped. I'm willing to experiment with a few.
thanks.
Brian
I understand your situation and customers do show us these balance covers from time to time but, unfortunately, it is not something that we can supply since there is so much variation in the size and style of these covers. If none of the local hardware stores can help, your best bet would be to reach out to the window manufacturer directly to see if they could point you in the right direction.
