I have 25 year old Alpine windows. The broken balance is marked 26 4 CALDWELL FM. I've determined that I need the 26" Series 385 balance. Do I weigh the sash and divide by two in order to determine the correct weight range?

Hi, George. Usually "26 4" (this is a type of spring weight) would go inside of a 27" channel. Double check that. As for the weight, weigh the sash and use the weight as-is. Our calculations already account for the friction in the channel and the two balances.
