S400-18

A quick learner from Victoria says:
Nice product, however, I was unable to install eighteen inch balances due to lack of space to insert into the channel. A sixteen inch balance will fit in the space I have to work with work. Can I use a sixteen inch balance and drop down two inches to anchor the top of the tube? These are installed windows and are not removable.
The unit I ordered and received is a SWISCO, S400-18. It is the proper replacement unit. Unfortunately, the space I have to work in will not allow enough vertical positioning of the tube for it to slip into the channel. The window is an installed unit and can in no way be modified or removed in order to replace the balance.
My question is: Can the S400-18 be replaced with an S400-16 and lower the top anchor point down two inches. I am interested in the window staying open even though it might not be at the proper height?
Thank you.

Thanks for writing in your question. To answer your question, yes, you can go down to S400-16 spiral balance and lower the top installation hole.

Thanks for considering Swisco and let us know if you have any further questions.
