S751 with altered shoe

I will say that what you describe is very peculiar. Two balances in the same window really ought to be identical. I would hazard a guess that someone repaired your window at some point in the past and used the wrong hardware.

For now, I will email you a purchase link and price quote now that will let you add two 21HD stamp S751-22 balances to your cart. These will be custom assembled with the 15-197 shoe attached to the end of the cord. Note that the 21HD stamp is designed to carry 17 through 20 pounds; that should match your old 21HT, but you should weigh your sash on a scale to verify. Better safe than sorry.

You should also verify that you do need the Series 751, and not something else. Considering your window has two different sized balances that's something you need to be 100% sure about before you place any order. Use the balances from other windows as a reference to make your determination and please understand that custom orders are non-refundable.

If the Series 751 is not the right size, let me know and we can work from there. That may complicate the project, though, as other sizes are not as common and could make the lead time considerably longer.

Looking at your photos, both balances appear to be over 1/2". That just makes this mystery even stranger.

To be transparent with you, many different manufacturers have different definitions of what 1/2" is. Sometimes it's 1/2" precisely, sometimes it's 9/16", which is the "true" measurement of our Series 751. Essentially, there's a bit of wiggle room there and while the "industry" accepted size is 1/2", most seem to treat any size that's about in that ballpark as the same. That may be the case here.

The alternative size I was thinking about is much, much smaller at 3/8", which I can tell at a glance that you don't have. If neither balance is 3/8" then that size is taken off the table and at the very least it makes this project a lot less complicated, since the 3/8" is a lot harder to get a hold of.

Looking at your photos I do think our 1/2" Series 751 will work. I can't really account for the discrepancy in size, especially if these windows are unaltered and if the balances are made by the same company. All I can tell you is that our Series 751 only comes in one size, which is 9/16".
