Sash Balance 25 - 4 PV BSI
What would be the swisco equivalent of 25 - 4 PV BSI sash balance?
Thanks for posting. That stamp actually is not an identifier. It just tells us the strength of the balance. We will need you to remove the balance from the window and send us clear photos of the nylon attachments on both ends of the metal channel. The combination of attachments will determine what you need.
The balancers all look like the attached picture but come in different sizes and strengths
20-3
25-4
25-9
Thanks! Looks like you have what's called an extended travel channel balance, named for its unique block and tackle system. We can supply these, but only as a custom order.
Before we go any further, though, I'll need more data.
First, can you verify that each balance is identical in all aspects other than size and stamp? I'm chiefly referring to the fittings on either end and the hook at the end of the cord. If there is even a minor difference, we need to see it.
Speaking of the clip at the end of the cord, can you show me a clearer photo of that?
Lastly, how many of each stamp did you need?
I would need
20-3. 2 each
25-4. 2 each
25-9. 6 each
Thanks again for your patience. We have everything settled on our end, but there is a slight complication with these balances that I need to go over with you before we pull the trigger on a custom order.
In essence, the manufacturer of these balances discontinued your model and no longer provides them. The good news is that we still have many of these in stock, specifically the 20-3 and 25-9. However, the 25-4 is out of stock and this specific model is no longer something we can offer.
The second bit of good news is that there is a modern equivalent that works just as well, and we do have that in stock. The design is different, though, so don't be alarmed when you open the box and the 25-4 looks different compared to the others.
The major reason I'm telling you this is because the calibration of the new balances is slightly different. Your older style balance is calibrated to hold sashes weighing 18 through 24 pounds, while the new version is calibrated to hold 19 through 25 pounds. Our new version SHOULD work fine, but I'd like you to weigh your sash on a scale before you buy anything just to make sure that we're not towing too close to the edge. Hopefully that makes sense. When it comes to custom balances, we like to cover all our bases. If your sash weight falls outside of the 19 through 25 pound range, please let me know and we can find something better.
Assuming that your sash weight falls comfortably in that range, then what I'll do now is email you a purchase link and price quote for each balance you've requested. That would be two of the 20-3, six of the 25-9, and then two of the new 25-4 model.
Sorry if that was a lot of information to digest, but we like to be transparent about our process here. Please let me know if you had any follow up questions and we can proceed from there.
Great, having the sash weight will allow you to confirm that the new balance will work.
The Series 385 will not replace an extended travel balance. The cord for these is not long enough to reach the same travel as your originals, meaning that after a given time the cord will snap, or at least rip out of the pulley during operation.
Great, thanks for verifying. The new balance we sent you should work perfectly fine.
