One sash balance broke. Need to replace pair. ID on unit:
14 4 KW CMC 11
Window is IWC. It looks like your series 390 1/2 inch by 15 inch
with 19-002 top and 15-001 shoe. I don't know if the spring
strength is the same as your 1440 type because above markings
have a 4 (and not a 40). Please advise asap.

I would think the 14 4 would translate to the 1440 stamp option. To check, remove the window sash and place it on a scale. The 15" Series 390 with stamp option 1440 will carry a window sash weight range of 12 through 13 pounds.
This information is based on 2 balances per sash; designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate.

Thanks for confirming that spring strength rating for me. The sash weighs 11 pounds. One more problem solved!
