Sash Cord Balance

Question

I need a replacement for my sash cord balance. The unit is marked "C15 5 27" and was manufactured by Andersen Bayport, MINN.

Both the left and right units are marked the same. I couldn't make out any distinctive features that would differentiate them so I assume the 2 units in the same window are identical. Is this correct?

I'm the homeowner and a mechanical engineer who is is also a practiced carpenter

Thanks for your patience during this busy season. You are correct; most Andersen balances are identical on the left and right hand side. Not all of them, but in your case that rule definitely applies.

Based on your old stamp of "5 27," you want the 25-531 Andersen sash balance.
