Sash lock bent the metal in my window

A quick learner from Florida says:
Our capital sash lock was actually broken off the window and the window metal is bent. Are we able to install a new capital sash in another location on the window frame, or must it be in the same place on the metal?

Thank you for any installation tips you can provide. I don't want to order these parts (2) until I know I can make them work.

Hey, Lynn, thanks for posting. This is a good question. First I would try to straighten out the frame if you can while doing your best not to damage it any further or even breaking the glass. Normally this type of locks can latch to anywhere on the inside sill lip on the main frame; I don't think there is any type of keeper or cut out it has to meet up with. Still, if you can get it to install in the same spot then try that first.
