Sash weight range

The sash weight range is not on the balance spring. How can I determine the sash weight range?

Is the sash weight the weight of the sliding window itself or the force it takes to slide the window up/down?

Do I need to 1/2 the weight of the sash weight to determine the correct weight range for each balance spring?

If you have no stamp on your balance, simply weigh your sash on a scale and refer to the chart on the S385-27 store page. You do not need to divide the weight in half.
