Sash window spiral balance replacement
I am looking for replacement of spiral balances 30" x 5/8" for a sash window which weight is 48lb. Please let me know which model can be used as replacement, it's price and shipping to FL delivery time. Thanks. David
Hey, David.
I can't identify what Series of balance you have from this photo, I'm afraid. In order for me to help, I would need to see a clear photo of an undamaged extended inner spiral tip along with any brackets.
Thank you!
Thanks for getting back. I am sending you a photo of the tip. Does it help?
That's a huge help, David, thank you. This looks like it might be a hybrid balance. These are heavy duty, commercial grade balances that are calibrated to a precise weight. There are a couple discrepancies that we have to cover before we can verify that, though.
Firstly, all hybrid balances are made in 1/2" length increments without exception. In your case, the length of the tube should be 30-1/2", not 30". Can you triple check that for me?
Can you also check the tube for any stamp or marking? That would confirm beyond any shadow of a doubt what this is. It should be located near the top of the tube and it will say something like "Ultra Lift" and a code like "30-48."
Emily had requested a photo of a bracket. This is what connects the spiral to the sash. Is that something you were able to get?
Finally, can you tell me how many you needed altogether?
Please see the attached photos showing the sizes of the balance itself and its case.
Just in case. This is for a sash window, which weight is 48 lb, and diameter is 9/16.
Thanks. David
Thanks, David. Knowing the sash weight is very helpful, but I'm still unsure about the other details I asked for. Were you able to find a stamp on the balance tube? Can you also verify the length of that tube? Like I mentioned, it should be on a 1/2" increment. You need to measure the outer tube as carefully as you can and tell me what you get.
Your photos also show the top bracket, which installs at the top of the window track. What we need to see is the bottom bracket, however. Specifically, it's the part that connects the spiral rod to the bottom corners of the sash.
Thank for getting back. The full tube length is 30.5"
I am attaching here the photos of low brackets from another window.
Please let me know if anything else. Thanks. David
Perfect, thank you! This confirms that our Hybrid balance will work. What I'll do now is email you a purchase link and price quote that you can use to add 2 of these to your cart, which is our minimum. If you wanted to increase that quantity, just let me know here and I'd be happy to change it for you.
To summarize, these will be white tube balances at 30-1/2" long and will be rated to carry precisely 48 pounds; no more, no less. They will also be fully compatible with your existing bracket.
Let me know if you had any questions, or if you wanted to order more than 2, and I will be happy to assist.
Awesome, thank you! We really appreciate your business, it means a lot.
