Sash won't stay in

Question

This pivot bar slides back and forth so that it comes out of the shoe and my sash won't stay in. When I tighten the screw the the channel that the bar is in, slides back and forth.How can I fix it?

If the metal housing that your pivot bar fits into is loose, you will need to take sash apart and lock the housing in place by pinning it with a hammer and punch.
