Screen door no longer locks

Question

This door used to lock and then one day I notice it stopped locking. When I lock it and I pull the handle to open the door it will unlock the lock. I looked closely and there is a metal piece that will actually press down on the lock and unlock it from the inside. Please help me figure how to make it lock again.

Your inside handle might be worn. See our 40-117 inside latch and compare it to what you have now. I think this may work for you as a replacement.
