Screen frame parts

Handy Person from Smithton, Illinois
My dry rotted plastic window screen corners broke and I need to replace them.  I’m unsure of the size I’ll require.  Also, the spring retainers are also defective.  Can you assist me?

We may be able to assist you, but not without dimensions. Size is hugely important for these components. We need precise measurements written out in your response, for every possible dimension. Please be as accurate as possible. A photo of a tape measure will not be sufficient.

The screen corner is 1 11/32” long on the outside and 1 3/32” on the inside. These dimensions would be for the horizontal and vertical. The thickness and heigth is 13/32”. There are dimples that are ½” and 1 ¼” from the outside corner on both sides.

The spring retainers are 4 1/16” on the pointed edge and 3 5/8” to where the notch is of the retaining part. It is 9/16” tall which includes the six bumps. The width varies from 3/16” at the retainer, ¼” at the long flat section, 1/16” flat section and 3/8” at the thumb press. I’d require an right and left part.

I have photos, but for the life of me I can't remember how include them. It would have helped.

But, alas, I hope you can decipher want I’m needing from what I’ve included.

Good luck

Joe

We can't be sure without seeing photos of intact parts uninstalled, which you can add by clicking the add photos button when you post.

In the meantime, take a look at the latches related on this page, along with the 91-003 spring and retainer. These latches look similar to yours, but make sure to compare the dimensions to your latch.

As for the corners, we could not find a corner exactly like the one in your photos, but review the related options to see if any of them might fit your frame.
