Screen is torn. What size spline do we need? What are the vertical vinyl rods that hold the screen in called?

Thanks for posting! I'm sorry to say, at this moment, we would not be able to determine the spline size needed for your window. You'll need to remove the existing spline and measure it to determine the correct replacement. If you are uncertain on what type of spline you need, I'll need to see a photo of an end profile view of the spline, removed from the frame.

I believe the vertical rods you are referring to are a part of the screen frame. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a replacement for the framing. If that is something you need to replace, you'll need to contact a local window supplier that is able to supply you with it.

I hope this helps!

Is there a name for the vertical vinyl rods that are part of the screens frame? The name of the part would be very helpful so I could locate what I need. How would I take that vinyl screen support off?

There isn't any one specific name for the vinyl rod you are referring to. The most common name seems to be a retainer but it can differ depending on who you're working with.

The process for removing spline can be quite difficult and frustrating. If you consider yourself somewhat handy then our videos below may be of some assistance to you. However, if you do not consider yourself to be handy, I would recommend hiring a professional to assist with this project.

Please feel free to reach out with any other questions.
