We always recommend reusing the original screws if at all possible. The length a screw may need varies from window to window, so in that particular respect the 38-075 does not use the same size across all applications.

If the screws are missing, then you have two different options depending on the type of window you have. 

For wood windows, we suggest using (2) #8 Phillips, flat head, sheet metal screws. For PVC or Metal windows, you want (2) #8 Phillips, flat head screws.

A 1" length may be enough for most standard residential windows but I wanted to reiterate that this is not universal. You might need something shorter or longer on a case by case basis. You will likely have to experiment with a couple difference sizes.
