Searching for 2310 bs1

Quick Learner
the bottom of my Lawson series SH-7500 Aluminum Single Hung window fell out when I tapped on it trying to scare away a woodpecker. There is a metal piece that fell to the ground outside and I cannot figure out what it is. From what I've been able to read on your site, it appears to be a channel balance. It has 2310 BS1 stamped on it and the metal piece is exactly 24 inches long. Can I replace this myself or do I need a professional? And, is this all I need to replace?

Thanks for posting. Yes, this is indeed a channel balance. Specifically it looks like either an S380-24 or S385-24. The difference between these two balances is the depth of the bottom nylon shoe, or the 'heel-to-toe' measurement, so compare both with your old hardware to see what matches best. See the diagram below for reference. In either case, for a new stamp option choose 2310.

Replacing channel balances is not particular difficult and if you're game for it you can do it yourself. See the videos below for more information, and let me know if you have any other questions.
