Searching for why won't my certainteed window stay up?

Quick Learner
We have certainteed double hung vinyl clad window where the bottom one won't stay up. When we tilt out the window we see a metal coil down again the frame. Where was that originally attached?
Thank you
John

Hi there- thanks for posting!

It sounds like your balances are broken. I'm thinking you have a coil balance too. We'll have to see a photo of the parts that you need replaced before we can recommend anything though. Here is a media guide on how to remove the coil balance from your window.

Take some photos of what you have, then we can get the ball rolling on finding you a replacement.

It appears my coil balances are broken. Both the same on one window. What replacement parts do I need?

You might need our Series 170 and Series 171 Coil Balances, which work with the 15-192 Pivot Shoe; but I can't say for sure without seeing the shoe. The video below goes into more detail.

I think this is the picture you are asking for. I still don't have the number off the spring. Do you need that also?

Thanks! Yes, that looks like the 15-192 shoe. As for the spring number, you will need that in order to select the right options for the Series 170 and Series 171. You don't have to give them to me, you should be able to pick them out from the options we have available for these products.
