Separation of the 32-012 Left Socket

I am 1n receipt of my 32-012 order #1442290 - Thank you. My immediate interest is with the Left 32-012, which is comprised of a "back-mount" piece and a "rod-holder" piece. These 2 pieces are pre-assembled as shipped to me. I only need the rod-holder piece (my existing one is broken) to mate with the existing mounted-piece. Can I separate the new Left one into 2 pieces and use the new rod-holder piece with the existing mounted piece without breaking it? If so, how?

I'm not sure that will be possible. The "rod holder" piece and the "back mount" piece are only designed to work together. It may be possible to mix and match them with old hardware, but I'm not optimistic, especially if your parts are older.
