Series 159 Coil Balance Quote

Quick Learner from Columbia, MD
I had the balance on 2 Simonton 6500 windows break recently and I'm trying to find new parts. Looking at the instructions on https://www.swisco.com/discussions/Simonton-6500-Series-window-balances--77-248811 it says I need 4 parts, one of which is this S159 coil balance.

The coil balance page asks for the weight of the balance to order. I pulled the coil balance out of the windows that was still there. The coil balance in the window is actually a double coil, screwed together to the shoe, or what was left of it. (The part that slides up and down in the window frame). The top coil of the two weighs 1.8oz/50g and the bottom 1.7oz/49g - measured on a kitchen scale, I'm not sure how accurate it is.

If you can tell me what parts I need, I'd appreciate it? I have two windows already broken, unfortunately.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We're happy to help with this. The correct coil weights will depend on the weight of the window sash, which is the glass panel that moves up and down. Can you weigh that for us and tell us the precise weight?

The top sash is 21.2 lbs, the bottom is 22.6.
Considering 22lbs is about right, I guess the video was dead on, I need 2 5lb springs and 2 6lb springs.

For your window sashes, we recommend using two S159-05 5.5-pound coil springs on both sides of the window. 11 pounds of support on each side will total 22 pounds of overall support, which will be fine for the sash weights given.
