Thanks for reaching out to us. 44-12 is a very strange stamp. Before we go further, we're going to need photos of the assembly to verify the make. I specifically need photos of the top fitting, bottom fitting, stamp, and the connection point between pulley and spring.

Please ensure that the balance you show us is whole and undamaged. If it's damaged in any way, we can't move forward.

Lastly, if the stamp on your balance is 44-12 then the length should be 45", not 44". Please verify.
