Series 795 Issue

Question

The cam on the bottom of the new S795-20 doesn't have the slot above the cam which the window needs to slide into cam.

When the channel balance is in the channel the new one has the spring covered the old one has spring exposed.

Any suggestions?

Hey there. We've seen this issue a few times before. Believe it or not, your old balances are installed backwards; with channel balances, the 'guts' of the metal channel almost always face the inside of the window track, so that the 'back' of the metal channel faces outward. Whoever made this specific version of the balance installed the balances this way exactly for the reason you're describing: it gives you a little extra room to get the pivot bar of the window sash into the metal cam of the T-Lock Shoe. It's certainly possible to get the pivot bar into the shoe with the balance installed 'normally', there's just a little less clearance with the metal channel.

Since you ordered the balances already, I suggest you try installing them with the typical way, with the metal channel facing outward and the 'guts' of the balance facing away and into the window track. See if they can still work for you. Let me know what you find.
